Red Ribbon week is generally celebrated nationally the last full week in October. Today, the Red Ribbon week celebration brings millions of people together to raise awareness of the dangers of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, and encourage prevention, early intervention, and treatment services. It is the largest, most visible prevention awareness campaign observed annually in the United States.
Group “in the moment” music making is a wonderful opportunity for your students to discover a level of self expression and empowerment. Our message to your kids is simple and immediately experienced on many learning modalities. At the core of our message is the point that through music and other healthy activities your students can get more out of their lives. The One World Rhythm Red Ribbon Week program focuses on the use of group music making and creativity.
Red Ribbon Week all in the messaging
We know that many of today’s youth are street smart when it comes to various substances & addictions. We also know that many of our youth have been desensitized on the subject by the media, social web sites and other negative influences. It’s time we change the “scare” message and focus on a much more effective “what’s in it for them” message. When the message is focused on positive life choices and it’s benefits we create a situation that shifts the spotlight back to rewarding great behavior.
We believe our messages resonate clearly with students as they come to the conclusions of positive choice without the naggy/preachy feel.
